Sarah Rother Named 2011 Teacher of the Year

Sarah Rother Named 2011 District 112 Teacher of the Year

The District 112 Foundation announced that Sarah Rother, a teacher at Pioneer Ridge Middle School, was chosen as the 2011 District 112 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Rother was selected from a field of five outstanding educators, including Jamie Crannell (Chaska High School), Sharon Maus (Chanhassen Elementary), Kari Bedow (Clover Ridge Elementary), and Cassie Pupovac (Clover Ridge Elementary). The recognition event was held at Oak Ridge Conference Center on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Officials from Carver (Mayor Greg Osterdyk), Chanhassen (Mayor Tom Furlong), Chaska (Mayor Mark Windschitl), Victoria (Mayor Mary Herschberger-Thun), and School Board Chair, Jim Leone, introduced the five finalists at the event. Mary Perrine, the 2010 Teacher of the Year, announced the winner and shared how her grant had benefited the students at Chaska Middle School East. The District 112 Foundation hosted the event and three Chaska businesses, Casualty Assurance of Chaska, Community Insurance Advisors, and KleinBank sponsored the grants awarded to the teachers, including $3000 for Mrs. Rother and $500 for each of the other four finalists. Mrs. Rother (is she chooses) will now represent Eastern Carver County Schools in the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Competition.

Mary Perrine 2010 District 112 Foundation Teacher of the Year!

$3,000 dollars was granted to Mary for use of her choice at Chaska Middle School East.

The other finalists received $500 dollars for use in their schools.
